Root canal or nerve treatment

A root canal treatment, also called nerve treatment, is a dental procedure in which the pulp (the connective tissue with blood vessels and nerves) is removed from the root canal of a tooth. The created space is cleaned and filled. The hole that the dentist had to make in the tooth is then filled. Two appointments are usually required for the entire treatment. After the inflammation has healed, a crown may need to be placed to protect the tooth.
